Port Lavaca is located on the Texas Gulf Coast approximately midway between Houston and Corpus Christi. It’s the county seat of Calhoun County, which contains over 500 square miles of pristine bays and estuaries and has over 500 linear miles of shoreline. Port Lavaca is in the heart of some of the very best fishing and birding on the Gulf Coast.

 There are two Federal Wildlife Refuges, multiple birding areas, three public beaches, four public fishing piers, various boat ramps, hotels/motels and restaurants in the County or nearby adjacent area.

The economy of Port Lavaca and Calhoun County is very diversified, including manufacturing, petrochemical, oil and gas production, electric power generation, seafood production, farming and ranching, retirement living, and tourism.

The county is home to 5 major petrochemical plants, offering business access to low cost rail and water transportation of raw materials and finished products.

The Port Lavaca Chamber of Commerce represents the local business community. The leading businesses in the area belong to the Chamber. The Chamber acts as an information clearinghouse to put area visitors in contact with local merchants and service providers.
